Mikhas Bashura, activist of the Havary Praudu civil campaign, is still in Zhodzina prison awaiting trial on criminal charges of forgery, Radio Racyja reports, quoting the campaign’s leader Uladzimir Niakliayeu.
According to Mr. Niakliayeu, the activist is receiving legal, material and moral support.
The campaign’s lawyers believe that Mikhas Bashura is prosecuted solely to intimidate the Havary Praudu activists, since there has not been a precedent when the accused in a similar criminal case was put in pre-trial prison.
Mikhas Bashura is accused of alleged forgery of an income certificate, submitted to a bank two years ago, and may face up to three years of imprisonment.
