Mikhail Bashura accused
An activist of “Tell the truth” Mikhail Bashura has been charged under two parts of Article 380 of the Criminal Code.
On August 18 the activist is likely to be transferred from the remand prison in Minsk to Zhodzina. “Belarusian partisan” website was informed about that by a lawyer Tamara Sidarenka.
On August 16 charges were served on Mikhail Batura under Parts 1 and 2 of Article 380 of the Criminal Code – (forgery, fabrication, use or sale of false documents, stamps, seals, printed forms. Two years ago he was surety for his wife who took a credit. Bashura allegedly offered a false document about his salary, overstating his income.
On august 6 a criminal case was opened against Bashura on charges relating Part 1 Article 380 and the activist was detained for 3 days.
On August 9 the court of Savetski district passed a decision to extend the term of the activist’s imprisonment to 10 days.
Human rights activists believe it is a politically motivated case:
- Law-enforcing agencies need information about oppositional activities of this man. And then they would offer a deal: the case would be closed, and he gives certain information. I do not see any other reasons for his incarceration, as violation of this Article of the Criminal Code is not a grave offence or even less serious offence. Moreover, earlier Bashura came to police department summoned by writs, – believes a former investigator of the prosecutor’s office Aleh Vouchak.
