Vitsebsk activist Siarhei Kavalenka detained

The official reason for the detention is violation of the traffic rules. On 6 May Kavalenka was detained for having crossed the road in a wrong place. However, when he offered to pay a fine, he was guarded to the police station. There the police drew a report for alleged use of obscene language towards the policemen who detained him.

Bear in mind that last month the activist served administrative arrest for having come to the Kastrychnitski District Court of Vitsebsk with a white-red-white flag. On 12 May he will also be tried under a criminal case instigated for hanging out a white-red-white flag on the main New Year tree of Vitsebsk.
