Candidate gets excluded from electoral race for participation in opposition demonstration
Anastasiya Azarka, a candidate to the Rudauka local Council of Deputies and a member of the Young Belarus, was told in the election commission that she had been removed from the ballot.
Euroradio learnt this from Artur Finkevich, the head of the Young Belarus.
‘The reason for removing Anastasiya Azarka form ballot was that she participated in the Freedom Day demonstration in Minsk on March 25. They said that she couldn’t run in the elections as she had followed an unauthorized route. The commission refused to give an official document confirming her withdrawal from the ballot,’ Finkevich said.
As it has become known, the management of the flax-processing plant in the town of Haradzeya, where Anastasiya Azarka works, looks for excuses not to prolong the labor contract with her.
