Ideologist of Brest district election committee interferes with electoral process

On 8 April A.Kuzniatsou, a candidate to the Brest district Council of Deputies of the 26th Convocation running at the Yaminskaya election constituency #26 brought the models of his agitation leaflets, posters and stickers to the printing house Artline. He was told about a telephone call from L.Lemekh, ideologist of the Brest district executive committee, who expressed a negative position concerning his leaflets. As a result, Artline refused to publish the agitation materials.

According to information of Zmitser Shurkhai, coordinator of the organizing committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy in the Brest region, members of the appropriate territorial election commission including L.Lemekh saw the leaflets and disagreed with the text of the electoral program of the candidate because it was based on the views of the Belarusian Christian Democracy.

Following the denial in printing, the candidate's proxies paid a visit to the district executive committee and informed L.Lemekh about the legal responsibility for such interference with the electoral process. Nevertheless, Artline didn’t agree to publish the agitation materials even then.
