Mikalai Charnavus, Baranavichy entrepreneur, lodged a complaint with the Brest Regional Election Commission, after he was refused registration as a candidate for the town council by the Baranavichy Town Election Commission. The local commission found 5 ‘fake’ signatures among those collected by the businessman’s campaign team. However, Mr. Charnavus argues that the authorities forced a number of signers withdraw their signatures.
In case the Regional Commission upholds the refusal, the candidate is going to appeal the decision in court.
