Ihar Salauyou, Homel ‘For Freedom’ activist, was refused registration due to alleged forgery in the signatures collected by his campaign team. According to a campaign team activist Andrei Stryzhak, some 60% of the signatures were found fake, with the dates having been allegedly written by the campaign members, instead of the signers themselves. However, Mr. Stryzhak says he supervised the collection of signatures and is sure that all the dates were written by the signers.
The activists are going to appeal the refusal.
In total, 5 out of 10 ‘For Freedom’ Homel region activists were refused registration as candidates by local election commissions.
