Homel BCD coordinator refused registration
Kastus Zhukosuki, Homel regional coordinator of the creation of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party was not granted registration as a candidate for the city council, but was allowed to run for the Homel Regional Council.
Mr. Zhukouski says he is puzzled why the same signatures were approved by the regional election commission and found invalid by the Homel city commission.
‘My campaign team collected signatures from the same people, i.e. we explained them that I would be running for both the city’s and the regional council. And their gave their signatures for me: on two separate sheets. And now one commissions finds the signatures valid and I get the registration, while the other declares them fake. How can that be?’ says the activist.
The same problems were encountered by another BCD coordinator Yauhen Yakavenka, who was registered as a candidate for the regional council and was not allowed to run for the city council.
