CEC sees no electoral violations in Hrodna
No violations were made during the formation of the divisional election commissions in Hrodna Leninski and Kastrychnitski districts, says Lidzia Yarmoshyna, chair of the Central Election Commission in her official reply to a complaint by local human rights activist Raman Yurhel, after the local state-owned newspaper Hrodzenskaya prauda published information on the composition of the commissions 8 days after the respective decisions were taken. The activist argued that the data were published on a separate sheet of paper dated 17 March inserted in the newspaper issued on 18 March, which he considered a violation of the Electoral Code, requiring that the information on the decisions by local electoral commissions are made public within 7 days after they are taken. However, Mrs. Yarmoshyna claims that the commissions’ lists were published on 17 March.
Mr. Yurhel says he is going to appeal the decision at Hrodna Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
