Baranavichy procuracy takes position of mailman

Observer Siarhei Housha came to the conclusion that the procuracy evades from implementing its duties.

On 17 February Siarhei Housha repeatedly addressed the Baranavichy city procuracy in connection with violations of the election legislation by the local authorities. In this document the Mr. Housha stated that one of the decisions of the Baranavichy city executive committee violated the rights of citizens during the collection of signatures in support of candidates to the local Soviet of Deputies. However, instead of giving a substantial answer prosecutor I.Palyka forwarded the complaint to the Baranavichy city executive committee.

The observer’s address of 10 March 2010 concerning the violation of the legal terms of answering by the Baranavichy city executive committee was again forwarded to the Brest oblast executive committee.

Thus, the procuracy took the position of a mailman, forwarding addresses concerning electoral vilations to other state agencies without giving any evaluation on their merits.
