Barysau: no possibility to appeal against decision on formation of precinct commissions

The Barysau authorities took unprecedented measures for concealing their decision on the formation of the Barysau district executive committee (DEC) on the formation of precinct election commissions and their composition.

According to the legislation, the non-inclusion of the persons who were nominated by political parties or electors can be appealed during three days after the decision. However, Adzinstva, the newspaper of the Barysau DEC, didn’t publish the decision in its edition of 11 March and the following edition, due on 13 March, wasn’t printed at all.

Meanwhile, all attempts of the Barysau human rights defenders and representatives of political parties to obtain information about the composition of the precinct election commissions from the DEC officers gave no result.
