A number of Baranavichy human rights activists – S.Housha, V.Syrytsa and V.Bolbat – have lodged a complaint with the local prosecutor’s office against the town authorities, who failed to respond in due time to the activists’ application for holding a picket on the International Human Rights Day.

In their complaint, the human rights activists stress that in their application they stated all the necessary information concerning the picket as required by Article 5 of the Law on Mass Actions. Article 6 of the Law requires that the authorities reply to the application at least five days before the action. However, it is still left unanswered.

Therefore, the activists urge the local prosecutor’s office to ‘conduct an inspection and provide legal assessment of Baranavichy town authorities.’
