Supreme Court returns case of Alexander Straltsou for review

On 16 September the presidium of Minsk city court considered the protest of the deputy-head of the Supreme Court against the ruling of Tsentralny verdict of Minsk of 15 June 2009 to Ales Straltsou, figurant of the ‘process of 14’ and ruled the verdict needed to be reversed.

‘The crime for which Straltsou A.V. was punished is not among the crimes enumerated in Article 8 of the law on amnesty, which could prevent granting parole to him’.

As a result, the materials of Straltsou’s case were returned to Tsentralny district court for review by a new judge. Most probably, the political prisoner will be amnestied, as he has already served more than one third of his term, had no violations and had was positively characterized at the place of work.
