Representative of ‘Defenders of Fatherland’ sues against ‘Sovetskaya Belorussiya’
Alexander Kamarouski, co-chairman of the organizing committee of the republican public movement Defenders of Fatherland has sued against the state owned newspaper Sovetskaya Belorussiya for protection of honor, dignity and business reputation. The trial will take place on 11 August at Savetski district court of Minsk.
The lawsuit concerns the article-letter of Illia Ryzhankou, We are not a mob scene for provocateurs, published on 12 February. Bear in mind that earlier a similar lawsuit was filed by human rights activist Aleh Vouchak. Alexander Kamarouski also considers this article as libel. However, he does not make any financial claims against the defendant. ‘It is a poor colonel. He was persuaded into it. I have dealt with the movement of Afghan war veterans for 23 years and established three republican organizations in the country, whereas he treats me like a jerk. I just want to look him in the eye and see what he was bought for,’ stated Alexander Kamarouski.
