Action of solidarity: day three
On 3 May activists of the civil campaign European Belarus, Young Front and Young Belarus traditionally gathered in Kastrychnitskaya Square at 6 p.m.
Oppositionists were holding portraits of political prisoners Mikalai Autukhovich, Yury Liavonau and Uladzimir Asipenka, as well as streamers ‘Freedom to political prisoners!’, the national and European flags.
In 5 minutes policemen appeared in the square. They announced with the help of a megaphone that the rally was unsanctioned, though in line with the decree of the Supreme Court citizens who are standing in the streets with portraits do not violate the law on mass events. Dozens of policemen were sent to stifle the protest. They traditionally encircled the protesters and drove them away from the square.
In response young oppositionists sat on the ground with portraits of political prisoners in their hands. Thus, encircled by riot policemen, they were sitting for half an hour. Then the young people were driven away by policemen behind the Palace of Republic.
Oppositionists call upon Belarusians to gather every day at 6 p.m. in Kastrychnitskaya Square of Minsk in support of political prisoners Mikalai Autukhovich, Yury Liavonau and Uladzimir Asipenka. One of the political prisoners, leader of entrepreneurs and Afghan war veteran Mikalai Autukhovich continues an indefinite hunger strike in prison. Considering his grave condition of health, the hunger strike menaces his life seriously.
