Activists of the civil campaign European Belarus stand trials and are arrested for EU symbols.

The activist of the European Belarus” campaign Maxim Viniarski was fined 175 000 Belarusian rubles (about $60) by the administrative commission of the Frunzenski district of Minsk for spreading printed materials depicting an EU flag.

The young oppositionist was detained some days ago together with another activist Aleh Ladutska, who is also summonsed to the administrative commission and will most likely be fined, too.

On 8 April the activists of the European Belarus campaign Uladz Ihnatovich and Marta Krylova were detained when they were pasting posters depicting the campaign’s contacts and an EU flag. According to the detainees, the police officers didn’t introduce themselves and didn’t explain a reason for the detention.

A report under Article 21.14 (violation of rules of town maintenance) was drawn up against Ihnatovich at Pershamaiski district police department of Minsk.

On 8 April the activist of the civil campaign European Belarus Alesia Yasyuk was detained in Minsk. The activist was guarded to the police department, where a report under Article 21.14 (violation of rules of town maintenance) was drawn up against her for hanging blue ribbons, symbolizing the EU flag.
