The organizing committee of the action filed an application to the Minsk city executive committee on 2 April. According to RFE/RL, the committee consists of leaders of the Belarusian Popular Front party Liavon Barshcheuski, Vintsuk Viachorka and Viktar Ivashkevich, head of the United Civil Party Anatol Liabedzka, and chairman of the Party of Communists of Belarus Siarhei Kaliakin.
It is decided that Viktar Ivashkevich is responsible for the action in Minsk and Anatol Liabedzka organizes actions in regions.
The applicants ask the city authorities to allow demonstrators to gather in front of the Academy of Sciences at 12.00 noon and have a march along Independence Avenue to Yakub Kolas Square, and from there to the Charnobyl Chapel at intersection of Karastayanava and Arlouskaya Streets.This year the democratic forces are going to expand geographical reach of the action. In particular, different events will be held in Homel, Bykhau (the Mahiliou region) and other towns. Special attention is given to Astravets, where the authorities plan to construct a nuclear power plant. Pickets and a round table are planned in Astravets.
