Forcefully drafted oppositionist denied medical examination
Ihar Salavei, activist of the “For Freedom” movement from Pinsk, forcefully drafted into the army, was taken to a Minsk hospital, but army doctors don’t find it necessary to carry out a wide examination.
The activist was found problems with heart before the drafting campaign. Medical board didn’t want to call him up for military service, but a military commissar insisted he should be drafted, milinkevich.org writes.
Administration of military unit #15994 sent the young man to Minsk to hospital. But a cardiac rheumatologist at the Clinical Centre of the Ministry of Defence studied the cardiogram and said there’s no need in a wide medical examination. The doctor prescribed medicines, Ihar Salavei must take regularly. The activist must return to the military unit.
Ihar Salavei says the officers in the military unit understand it.
“Everything is OK in the unit. I don’t have any problems with the commanders. Newspapers “Nasha Niva” and “Narodnaya Volya” are delivered to us. I am allowed not to do some exercises because of my problems with heart,” the youth activist says.
