Fireworks in honor of Alexander Barazenka

On 7 December, the last day before the trial, a rally of solidarity with the imprisoned activist of European Belarus campaign Ales Barazenka was held in front of the remand prison in Valadarski Street.

His fellow activists from European Belarus”, Young Front, Young Belarus and other youth organizations came to support him. The prisoner’s family was there too. At the end of the rally a firework in honor of the political prisoner went off.

Alexander Barazenka, an activist of the campaign European Belarus, was arrested on 27 October at the Investigative Committee of Preliminary Investigation of the police department of Minsk city executive committee, where he had been called in for questioning. The oppositionist is one of the figures of the Process of 14, a criminal case, instigated on article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus against participants of a peaceful rally of entrepreneurs, held in Minsk on January 10, 2008. It is remarkable that he was arrested just after the European Union lifted sanctions against high-ranking Belarusian officials.
