Authorities accuse United Civil Party of being non-democratic
The Ministry of Justice has sent a letter to the National committee of the Unite Civil Party concerning the behavior of the UCP chairman Anatol Liabedzka.
Referring to the publications in the newspaper Belorusskiye Novosti and at the UCP website www.ucpb.org) the Ministry of Justice condemns Liabedzka’s participation in the peaceful action of protest against the rigged elections that took place on 28 September in Kastrychnitskaya Square in Minsk. The letter is signed by the head of the department of public association Aleh Slizheuski.
The Ministry of Justice wrote that ‘in conformity with the legislation the person who represents a juridical body must act wisely and honestly’. That’s why in the letter the ministry expressed the opinion that the UCP does not abide by the principles of democracy and legality in its activities.
