CIS observer doesn’t know about Karma and Rahachou?

On 29 August the coordinator of the CIS observation mission in Homel oblast Ivan Katlabai stated that in Homel oblast there were no constituencies having less than two candidates. This information, however, does not meet the reality.

Only one candidate was registered at Rahachou electoral district: Uladzimir Mikhasiou, head of the housing economy of Homel oblast executive committee. The constituency includes Karma and Rahachou districts of Homel oblast.

The state information agency BelTA quoted the observer’s remark: ‘the formation of constituency and precinct electoral commissions and registration of candidates to deputies were conducted in strict conformity with the legislation of the Republic of Belarus’.
