During the last weeks the obligatory ‘informational assemblies’ on the topic ‘Strong parliament is the fundament of political stability, social welfare and progress ‘ have been held in the working collectives of Polatsk. These actions were ordered by Polatsk city executive committee. In some of the collectives the ‘lectures’ were read by representatives of the executive committees and in some its text was read by the administration.

In the text of the report it is emphasized that the main aim of the Parliament is the elaboration of the legislative basis for development of the Belarusian statehood, guaranteeing the rights and liberties for the citizens, economical transformations in the country and the adoption of the republican budget. The report is overloaded with the numbers showing the number of citizens’ addresses to the deputies, but has no information about the number of problems these deputies really helped to solve. ‘The work on elaboration of the legislative basis for social protection of low-income citizens, the material support of the families who raise children and protection of children’ has been put in a special paragraph and even marked by a bold font. In fact, this winter the deputies almost unanimously voted for liquidation of social guarantee.

The report ends with the pathetic phrase ‘The main aim of the elections is to elect constructively thinking and active deputy corps’. One can only guess what is meant by ‘constructive thinking and activity’ here.
