The judge of Chyhunachny district court of Vitsebsk Uladzislau Shykarou ruled to fine the activist of the Conservative-Christian Party Belarusian People’s Front Siarhei Kavalenka under part 3 of Article 23.34 of the Administrative Code (violation of the rules for organizing and holding mass actions) for participation in a peaceful mass action on 26 April, dedicated to an anniversary of Chernobyl accident.

The democratic activist was found guilty for carrying a white-red-white flag. He managed to walk only several meters with it and then was detained by the police. He was kept in the pre-trial prison for almost two days. The trial over him started only on 28 April and was postponed after his petition for interpreter’s services.

The trial continued today. Youth activists and Kavalenka’s friends and relatives came to it to support him. The trial lasted for about 15 minutes only. The verdict was prepared in advance.

Bear in mind that recently Kavalenka has served a 10-day arrest for participation in the celebration of the 90-ieth anniversary of the Belarusian People’s Republic.
