Minsk city executive committee changes the route proposed by Chernobyl March organizers

On April 21st the negotiation between the applicants for permission for Chernobyl March and the authorities took place. The authorities were represented by Minsk city executive committee official Henadz Kurbeka, prosecutor Aliaksei Stuk, and deputy head of public safety department Melnik. The delegation of the organizers refused to start negotiations in front of a TV camera. The camera was taken away.

Minsk city administration gave permission to hold the demonstration on the route from the Academy of Sciences to the Park of People’s Friendship (Bangalore Square). The place for gathering is the Academy of Sciences, 2 p.m. The demonstration participants are allowed to walk on the sidewalks.

“We informed the representatives of the Minsk city executive committee that we would have our final decision about the route tomorrow, after we hold a meeting of the Chernobyl March organizing committee”, -- Uladzimir Labkovich, one of the demonstration organizers, BPF executive secretary, says.

Each of the organizers was given an official warning about his responsibility. However, they refused to sign them.
