Minsk: Criminal Case against Aliaksandr Zdvizhkou Reopened
Minsk city court has reopened a criminal case against the non-state newspaper Zgoda, which was brought two years ago for reprint of the prophet Mohammad charges from a Danish newspaper.
Bear in mind that in March 2006 the court closed the newspaper on request of the Ministry of Information. The criminal case was brought against the deputy-editor of the newspaper Aliaksandr Zdvizhkou. It was suspended because of absence of the main accused.
On 30 December 2007 the chief editor of Zgoda Aliaksei Karol and some members of the editorial board received a summons to come to the court as a witness in the reopened case. Karol applied to the court and asked for explanations. He was told that Zdvizhkou had been detained and was kept in custody.
The trial will start at 11 a.m. on 11 January at Minsk city court (Dunin-Martsinkevich Street, 1-3).
