A well-known entrepreneur Mikalai Autukhovich has served almost half of the 3,5 years to which he has been sentenced for alleged non-payment of taxes. Recently he has passed a letter to his friends and relatives. There he writes that most probably he would not be granted parole (though those who have served a half of the term can count on it). Mr. Autukhovich writes that he receives many letters with words of support. The minister of internal affairs promised to declare an amnesty this autumn, by 8 September Autukhovich will have served a half of his term. ‘I can submit an application for early release to the commission’, the prisoner writes. ‘They even promised it to me in the case I take the blame and repent in public. I will never do it because I did not violate anything. That’s why I don’t even know whether there is any sense in writing such an application.’
