Unknown people have broken out a window grating and robbed the office of the Trade Union of Radio Electronic Trade in Smaliavichy. According to the chair of the primary unit of the Belarusian RET in Smaliavichy Valery Sachyuka, it is already the third robbing during the year.
‘I have several times applied to the police concerning the robberies and received only come-offs in response. They write that the cases are suspended because of the impossibility to find the perpetrators. I don’t need these come-offs which are signed by the police administration. There must be concrete actions instead. After the 11 May robbery I told the investigator about the place where the stolen items could be stored, but the police paid no reaction and sent me another come-off… We regularly pay the rent and can not even use our office. I have to store all trade union documents at home and can not organize juridical consultations, assemblies and training seminars,’ said Mr. Sachyuka. The trade union activist thinks that the robberies could be planned for pressurization of the independent trade union. ‘The inaction of the authorities makes me think that this is purposeful haunting and destruction of our trade union’, Sachyuka added.
