Chernobyl Liquidator Dies before Association of Liquidators Gets State Registration

One of the founders of the public association Liquidator, Chernobyl liquidator, disabled person Mikalai Shynkouski died at the age of 60 in Vitsebsk.
As Radio Liberty has been told by the chairman of the organization Aliaksandr Vauchanin, a military doctor Shynkouski took part in liquidation of Chernobyl nuclear power station disaster starting from 2 May 1986. He was commander of a special medical squadron.
On 19 May 2007 the activist took part in a foundation meeting which decided on creation of a public association of liquidators.
In his address to the meeting Shynkouski expressed his protest against a planned repeal of benefits to Chernobyl victims. ‘It is a tragedy of the nation’, he said.
Will the new association be registered? As said by Vauchanin, Justice Ministry is to answer before 12 July.
