Court Refuses to Restore Tatsiana Seviarynets at Her Job

Today Tatsiana Rodzina, Judge of Pershamaiski court, read the ruling of the court. The court rejected the claim of Mrs. Seviarynets, activist of the For Freedom movement, to Pershamaiski district education department of Vitebsk.

Tatsiana Seviarynets and her agent Kastus Seviarynets plan to file a cassation appeal and a new suit to the higher court.

Tatsiana Seviarynets needs the help of the court to be restored at her job. She was fired from secondary school # 40. The alleged reason was absence from work. During spring vacations Tatsiana Seviarynets took part in a seminar for teachers “Children in the system of education” which took place in Warsaw. Before going abroad the woman had asked in writing to grant her a leave for family reasons at her own expense. The school principal signed the application, and, according to rules, the chairman of the district education department Uladzimir Shloma approved it. On her return Tatsiana Seviarynets was shocked to find out that the head of the education department had canceled his decision, and 6 days were considered an absence without leave.
