The trial in the case of the Young Front activists started today in Savetski borough court.
Barys Haretski, Dzmitry Fedaruk, Aleh Korban and Nasta Palazhanka are charged with acting on behalf of an unregistered organization (Article 193-1 of the Criminal Code). They may face fines or imprisonment of up to 2 years. The fifth accused activist Aliaksei Yanusheuski is now in Czech Republic.
Some 100 democratic activists, journalists, diplomats and party leaders gathered near the building of the court.
At about 12.00 the police detained several people including Andrei Ihnatovich and Mikhail Pashkevich, and confiscated a number of white-red-white flags.
