Criminal Case against UPB Activist Andzhei Lisouski Dropped
The KGB office of Hrodna returned to Andzhei Lisouski his car that had been taken away from him for the period of investigation of the criminal case that had been brought against him on suspicion of drugs smuggling. According to RFE/RL, KGB also paid 80 000 rubles for the services of the parking where the car was kept. By the way, a new accumulator disappeared from the car. Lisouski wrote an application to KGB on the fact, and a check-up is being conducted.
Andzhei Lisouski was informed that he ceases being a suspect in the criminal case and instead a criminal case on the fact of situation of the drug in the car would be brought.
Lisouski’s car was detained on 29 October 2006 at the border crossing Pryvalka. He was driving two passengers, including Anzhalika Borys, who chairs the Union of Poles of Belarus which is not recognized by the Belarusian authorities. Lisouski and the passengers were on their way back from a sitting of the European organization of Polish associations. The customs officers found a small bag with amphetamine in a rear-view window.
When the criminal case was brought the main council of the UPB declared it a manifestation of political harassment.
