A letter with an offer of assistance in organizing events on the day of commemoration of Chernobyl nuclear power station disaster has been sent to the chairman of Mahiliou city executive committee Viktar Shorykau and the head of the regional ‘vertical of power’ Barys Batura by representatives of the united democratic forces. It is underlined in the letter that the anniversary of Chernobyl nuclear power station catastrophe shouldn’t be used for dividing people into ‘friends’ and ‘foes’. That is why democrats are ready to come to the monument dedicated to Chernobyl together with officials and lay flowers near official wreaths. They also offer officials assistance in production and distribution of printed materials on Chernobyl. They are ready to send their representatives to any official panel session, as reported by the internet source belngo.info.
In order to define in which mass events democrats could take part before and on 26 April, they ask to inform about the exact plan of regional and city official events. At the same time, the letter informs about the actions planned by the united democratic forces in Mahiliou.
Meanwhile, local veterans of the democratic movement recall that last time an opposition representative was permitted to deliver a speech at an official city meeting dedicated to Chernobyl was 10 years ago.
