On 5 April the first thousand of signatures of Belarusian citizens who support the EU program of cooperative action for admission of Belarus to the Council of Europe was sent to Strasbourg.
According to the democratic activists Aliaksandr Makaieu and Viachaslau Siuchyk, these signatures were collected within the frames of the nationwide campaign Let Belarus Become Member of EU Council which began on 12 March. This initiative was approved by more than 80 well-known public activists of Belarus, who urged their compatriots to take an active part in the campaign.
