Liquidator Association Is Established

Yesterday, on 3 April, the constituent assembly of liquidators of the consequences of Chernobyl accident in Belarus took place in Minsk. They discussed the question of collecting signatures for the establishment of the national NGO Liquidator. In his speech the coordinator of the establishment of the national NGO Aliaksandr Valchanin stated: ‘Belarus has a law that guarantees the social defense of the liquidators of the accident at Chernobyl nuclear power plant. However, in practice many of its regulations are not implemented. At present there is no organization in Belarus to control the implementation of this law and defend the liquidators’ rights. Everybody speaks on behalf of the liquidators but them. The time has come to unite the forces for defense of the law. I call all who are indifferent to this problem to join us.’
