For the first time in many years representatives of democratic forces in Brest celebrated the Freedom Day together. While a significant number of Brest activists went to a rally in Minsk, about 70 people participated in Freedom Day actions.

At noon in three districts of the city (Center, Kavaliova and Uskhod) activists of democratic forces handed out BPF Freedom Day cards and “Together with People” newsletter of the BSDP HRamada to passers-by. The police detained Dzmitry Shymanski, chairman of Brest city BPF, BPF activist Yury Zhydovich and BSDP member Anton Stasiuk. The detained were taken to Leninski police department. Basing on the false reports of the policemen who detained them, deputy head of ideology department of Brest city executive committee S.V. Dubina charged them with distribution of printed materials without publisher’s information.

At 2 p.m. the democratic forces had a soccer tournament at Uskhod-6 stadium. The tournament was dedicated to the 89th anniversary of the Belarusian People’s Republic. Teams of the United Civic Party, Belarusian Social Democratic Party Hramada, Belarusian Popular Front, and the Party of Communists of Belarus took part in the tournament. The winners. The team of BSDP Hramade received prizes and a cup. The games were observed by policemen, reports “Dzedzich”.
