HOMEL: Civic Activists and BelaPAN Reporter to Be Tried
Today civic activists Yury Hlushakou and Anatol Paplauny, and regional reporter of BelaPAN Anatol Hatouchyts will be tried in Homel courts.
Each of the detained is charged with different violations of the Belarusian legislation. Journalist Anatol Hatouchyts is accused of continuing to act in the interests of foreign media. Let us remind the readers that one year ago the BelaPAN reporter received an official warning that it was inadmissible to violate paragraph 9 of the “Regulations about presence and professional activity of representative offices and accredited correspondents of foreign media on the territory of the Republic of Belarus”.
Yury Hlushakou, head of the organizing committee of Razam social movement, is charged with disorderly conduct. On the eve of the Freedom Day an unknown young man stopped Yury on a street and asked for a lighter. All of a sudden he began to push Hlushakou. As a result, the stranger imitated receiving a kick in the groin from the activist. Police appeared immediately. The police officers drew up a report on Yury Hlushakouo and took him to court. The trial was postponed to March 26.
Activist Anatol Paplauny is accused of distributing printed materials. In the beginning of the year deputy director of Homel plant of starting engines Minchuk found Svaboda newspaper at one of the desks. Immediately he called for police. A police officer drew up a report on Anatol Paplauny for distribution of printed materials of “shadowy origin”, reports Hart Center of Youth Initiatives.
