“Preventive Measures” Started in Vitebsk Region
Navapolatsak police detained Ihar Sukharukau and charged him with using curse language and failure to obey the police, reports RFE/RL.
On March 23 the city police department drew up a report and in a couple of hours Ihar was tried. He was sentenced to 5 days of jail. Instead of going to Minsk to celebrate the Freedom Day, the activist will have to spend it behind bars.
“Preventive conversations” with youth are carried out in Vitebsk. For example, student of technical college Krystsina Mikhailava was invited by the college director to come to his office. He made the girl sign an obligation not to take part in the street actions.
A police officer visited Yulia Husakova and Uladzislau Chernik in their high school. He took them from classes to tell them about the new Administrative Code. But his main task was to warn them about consequences for participation in the street protests.
