Leader of Brest BPF Yuras Hubarevich Leaves His Car to Get Rid of Police Chase

Yuras Hubarevich told RFE/RL, the police acts more and more brutally in the region.

“I wanted to return from Brest to Belaaziorsk, -- says Hubarevich, -- but noticed the so called “tail” following me. There was a moment when the police lost me. I left the car on a street and took a train to Belaaziorsk”.

Recently the police stopped civic activist Uladzimir Kazeka in Drahichyn. They explained he was allegedly suspected of participating in a road incident. Later they charged him with a disorderly conduct. Now Kazeka is kept at Leninski district police department.

Yuras Hubarevich said about 10 activists had been detained in Brest region. Over 50 pro-democratic activists are wanted by the police.

“All of them refuse to sign a warning about responsibility for participation in unsanctioned street actions”.

Meanwhile, Hrodna activists are summoned to police on March 25.

Leninski police department of Hrodna summoned youth activists Yauhenia Shastserykova and Volha Smalianchuk to come in the morning of March 25.
