Mahilou Region before Freedom Day
Leaders of the political parties of the country met representatives of the civic society in Mahilou region. Te fate of Krystsina Shatsikava is still unknown, reports RFE/RL.
Siarhei Kaliakin, Anatol Liabedzka, Yury Khadyka, Alexander Bukhvostau and Anatol Liakovich met with representatives of the civic society in Mahilou in the local UCP office.
The meeting, which gathered about 70 people, lasted for almost 4 hours. The leaders of the United Democratic Forces presented their vision of consolidation of the society, the format of the Congress of Democratic Forces, and general situation in the country.
Meanwhile, the human rights activists learned about the details of detention of youth activist Valer matskevich in Babruisk. He will be kept in detention center until trial on Monday. The parents of the activists have already found an attorney for him. Babruisk human rights activist Ihar Khodzka reports, Valer Matskevich is charged with disorderly conduct. Allegedly, he used foul language when talking to a policeman.
We still don’t know about whereabouts of Krystsina Shatsikava. Yesterday evening she was pushed into a red car and taken somewhere. The incident happened in the presence of activist Iryna Kacharova. The police claim they didn’t have her. Mahilou detention center also says they haven’t received her. Her family reported “abduction” to the police.
