Mahilou human right activist Barys Bukhel reports to the HumanRightsCenter “Viasna”, today Kastrychnitski court of Mahilou made a verdict on the administrative charge against Maksim Azarau, 18. Despite contradictory evidence given by witnesses of the detention and the policemen, judge Raman L. Kastsiuk sentenced the high school senior to 7 days of jail.

Barys Bukhel defended Maksim in court. He draw the judges attention to the evidence of the prosecution. One of the witnesses, who allegedly saw the detention from the distance of about 20 meters, said Maksim looked like the guy who gesticulated and swore loudly. The second witness was also not sure if Maksim was the guy. Nevertheless, the judge did not listen to the reasoning of the human rights activist. “The verdict has already been written, this is absolutely clear, and the trial was just fiction”, -- Barys Bukhel is convinced.
