Members of Union of Left Parties Appeal Its Non-registration to Supreme Court
According to BelaPAN
The complaint was filed with the Supreme Court on 12 March. ‘We consider the pretensions of the Ministry of Justice to our union groundless and demand abolishment of the non-registration ruling’, said the press-secretary of the Union of Left Forces Zinaida Hanchar. The date of consideration of the complaint is not known yet.
We should remind that on 17 December 2006 the leaders of the Party of Communists of Belarus, the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) and the Belarusian Women’s Party Nadzeia gathered in Chernihiv (Ukraine) to sign an agreement on establishment of the Union of Left Parties. The appropriate documents were passed to the Ministry of Justice for registration of the union. The ministry refused and explained that the activity of the political parties that are registered on the territory of Belarus can cover only the territory of Belarus and political parties have no right to organize and hold any measures on the territory of other states.
