Drahichyn: Uladzimir Kazeka Detained for Distribution of Printed Production
At about 8 p.m. on 2 March 2007 in Drahichyn the police detained an activist Uladzimir Kazeka for distribution of Svaboda newspaper.
As said by a human rights activist Uladzimir Vialichkin, Uladzimir Kazeka was taken to Drahichyn district police department. The police confiscated from him 50 copies of the newspaper, took explanations and draw a report for violation of article 172 of the Administrative Code, ‘distribution of printed editions with violation of the establisher order, without the data-line or with a content that can be harmful to the state and public order, rights and legal interests of the citizens’. This is quite surprising, as on 1 March a new Administrative Code came into force, and a report composed under the old one has no legal force. At 11 p.m. the detainee was released from the police department.
