Salihorsk Authorities Ban Picket of Independent Trade Union of Belaruskaliy

Members of the independent trade union of Belaruskaliy enterprise asked Salihorsk executive committee to authorize a picket on 14 March. However, the authorities refused to do it because of a flue epidemic.

The chair of the trade union is going to submit a repeated application for action permit. The trade union demands to increase the wages to the miners and solve the dwelling problems of the enterprise workers. The trade union activists also protest against a draft law on pensions which liquidates preferential pensions. In May the draft is to be considered by the parliament.
