According to the party’s press-service, a week ago Ihar Shynkaryk gave his passport to the passport department to prolong the term of travel permit. On January 24 he was to receive it back and leave for Vilnius to take part in a pro-democratic forces conference.
However, he was not able to do that, because the passport service did not return his document, saying it was being checked by the KGB.
It is the second time UPCB members face problems with passport department – last year the KGB did not allow Anatol Liabedzka to leave Belarus. Nevertheless, the KGB later changed their decision after Liabedzka promised to picket the KGB main office.
