Independent Trade Union Member Demands Contract Term Increase
As reported by www.praca-by.info, the legal department of the Trade Union of the Workers of Radio electronic Industry (REI) has analysed the current situation and arrived at a decision that an employee has a right to sign a 5-year contract with the employer.
At the end of 2006, head of Frebor company, where Mikalai Askerka works, officially ordered all the employees to sign new contracts. Failing to do so would lead to dismissal. Highly-skilled professionals were advised to sign 3-year contracts, ordinary workers – only one year. Mikalai Askerka, a REI activist was among the latter ones.
Askerka said that he would agree to sign a 5-year contract. The activist pleads Government Act #1341, according to which any worker has a right to have a 5-year contract.
The Trade Union is sure the administration of the company will satisfy Askerka’s demand.
