The police detained Barys Khamaida near house #28 in Lenin Street, a place where he usually distributes Vitsebskiy kurier, Nahsa niva, Narodnaia volia newspapers and Dzejaslow and Arche magazines. The policemen drew on him a report under article #148 of the Administrative Code, ‘trading in a wrong place’, and then drove him to Vitsebsk Chyhunachny borough court, where the activist was fined. According to this article the police could confiscate the editions, but didn’t do it.
In his interview with RFE/RL Barys Khamaida said that the police usually detain him once a month, but he categorically refuses to pay the fines.
