In his interview to RFE/RL Aliaksandr Auseienka, another candidate to Pinsk city deputy soviet, said: ‘Mr. Vasiliieu was detained for having occasionally come to a council of the local vertical with members of election commissions. The council was headed by the chair of the legal department of Pinsk city executive committee Melnichuk, who told members of commissions to submit to the election committee empty blanks with signatures of all members of commissions. On hearing it Aliaksandr Vasiliieu stood up and said that it was rigging and ensues in criminal responsibility. After this the commission members knocked him down off his feet and called the police.’

On 9 January Pinsk city court sentenced Aliaksandr Vasiliieu to 7 days of jail for ‘foul language’ (article 156 of the Administrative Code, petty hooliganism).
