Printing Houses Refuse to Publish Agitation production for Oppositional Candidates all over Belarus
Mahiliou city printing house refused to print election materials for the leaders of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) Siarhei Famin and Iury Novikau, who run for Mahiliou regional deputy soviet.
‘They explained it with having too many orders as a result of which it was impossible to implement our one in time. When summed up, such trifles start getting us out of our way, but we will continue taking part in the election anyway,’ commented Iury Novikau.
The candidates printed their materials in a private printing house. After this police paid two visits there and asked what the materials were they and how many copies were printed.
In Babruisk the printing house named after A.Nepahodzin received an official letter from Babruisk city election commission with the demand not to print fly-sheets to democratic candidates, because their content allegedly violated article 45 part 2 of the Election Code.
According to the information of human rights activist Ihar Khodzka, the printing house refused to pass printed flyers to a democratic candidate Ihar Pukala and refused to print them to another democratic candidate, Mikita Bytsenka.
