On 6 January in Babruisk the police detained for several hours Alena Miadzvedzeva, a candidate to local deputy soviets, member of the Belarusian Social-Democratic Party Hramada and chair of For free development of business activity campaign.

‘Two policemen approached me at a bus stop and said I was detained and needed to come with them to the nearest police station. They didn’t explain the reasons for the detention. At the police station they examined in presence of two witnesses my handbag and confiscated three fly-sheets including a fly-sheet For Freedom! They composed a confiscation report which I refused to sign. After two hours at the police station I was released,’ said A.Miadzvedzeva.

She also reminded that during the last election to local deputy soviets she was detained nine times.
