On 8 December a lawyer Ihar Rynkevichmet with his client Aliaksandr Kazulin in Vitsba-3, a penal colony where Mr.Kazulin is spending his prison term. According to Rynkevich, Kazulin refuses from hospitalization connected to his recent hunger-strike, as well as from any injections. He states that he doesn’t want to follow Henadz Karpenka (a well-known Belarusian politician who suddenly died in a hospital in April 1999) and would rather continue serving to the Belarusian people and democracy.

Aliaksandr Kazulin has been examined in Vitsebsk regional hospital. No pathology was found in his internal organs, but some of them are larger than should be and he has edemas of extremities. His weight is unstable and is about 80 kilos now.

Mr. Kazulin asked his lawyer to thank all those who sent him New Year greetings with words of support. He also passed birthday greetings to Stanislau Bahdankevich, Alena Skryhan and Aliaksandr Vaitovich.
